The ranking body found that Indian universities have enhanced their research impact as 17 of India’s 35 top universities have seen increase in Citation Per Faculty scores, while 12 have witnessed a drop.
BENGALURU: In the QS World University Ranking 2022, Indian Institute Of Science Bangalore is the world’s top research university reveals.
According to the reports IISc achieved a perfect score of 100 out of 100 in six parameters including Citations Per Faculty indicator, released on Tuesday night. Global top universities such as Princeton, Havard and Massachusetts Institute of Technology which are the global top ranking universities are beaten by Indian Institute of Science. These universities also scored 100/100 for the parameter.
Moreover, Indian Institutes, IIT Guwahati (94.8/100)achieve second position with global rank of 41 for CPF and IIT Roorkee achieve third position with the rank of 62.
Citation per Faculty is use for calculate institutional research quality.we take the total number of citations received by all papers produced by an institution across a five-year period by the number of faculty members at that institution. CPF is one of the six indicators used to compile the ranking of university.
The ranking authorities found that Indian universities are also improving their reasrch impact, relative to global competitors.
As 17 of India’s 35 top universities raise their CPF score and rest of them are drops in CPF.
As per these parameters, report tells that Indian Universities are continuing struggling in QS’s measure of institutional teaching capacity.
Only six of India’s 35 universities have increased in QS’s Faculty/Student Ratio Indicator, with 23 recording decline. No Indian University ranked in top 250 for Faculty/Student Ratio Indicator.
Director Of Research at QS,Ben Sowter said:” The edition of 2021 of QS World University Ranking expressed the brilliant work done by many Indian Universities to increase their reputation on the global stage. On the other hand , our dataset found that the Indian higher education sector is still not able to give adequate teaching capacity.”
MIT achieved the number one spot in global ranking, Oxford University was achieved rank two, Stanford University and University of Cambridge both got third rank in global ranking.
This year also only three Indian Universities achieved a place in global top 200 universities. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, which remain its status on the number one for the four consecutive year. IIT Bombay ranks 177th globally. It has fallen five places from the last year.
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi achieves second best university of india, gets 185 rank which is a rise of eight places. Indian Institute of Science Bangalore is on third position, gets 186 rank in global top universities.
